I just watched this episode for the first time last night and was utterly wrecked by how powerful every moment, every word, every emotional jolt ripples across the screen and into my brain. To be clear, I am not a League fan, and know nothing about the lore - and am coming in cold from the perspective of a lover of Cinema, Fantasy, and modern animation. I may actually rewatch this episode before continuing the rest of the series, thats how good it was The animation in this episode was fucking amazing though, from powders ugly crying to the hextech explosions, everything was just straight up eye candy. While throwing a tantrum, powder just magically realizes what actually caused the explosions, the guilt stricken enforcer pulls Vi away at the exact moment she was going to save powder, while this particular action isn't that far fetched, i hate origin stories which rely upon simple misunderstandings exploded into a nuclear scale. One critique which i would make though is the awfully convenient writing, councilor mel is just randomly walking through a dark hallway when she meets the Jayce and Viktor. I liked Vi in this episode the most though, the way they portrayed her beating the shit out of the bad guys, breaking down, looking at her own hands after slapping powder and doubting her own actions really just added a lot to her character which up until now was pretty much headstrong, violent, caring sister. Im so used to seeing unrealistic portrayals of children in media that i completely forgot that she was a 7 year old kid suffering from intense trauma. Interesting episode, at first i was quite mad at powder but after reading some of the replies in this thread, it makes sense why she acted the way she did. As a first time viewer with no idea that this char should be evil and that this was bound to happen that progression just felt wrong, I did not feel her character had enough of a reason for that plot progression. I also felt like I could relate to her char so much at the beginning, up until the point where she hugged evil guy I was super invested. I wish there were more scenes that gave Jinx more of a reason to distrust Vi in those first three episodes. the un natural way that progressed was really disappointing for me personally. I love everything else about the show, the production, the animation, soundtrack, action and the characters themselves are epic, I love seeing headstrong female protagonist characters being badass and also mentally unstable haha. BTW I am a first time viewer, and I had no prior knowledge of LOL lore at all.
This really ruined the natural progression of the plot for me.
